when the sun did come out [ws]

May 18th, 2009 | 8 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Weekend Snapshot

the sun almost never comes out lately as harsh as did last weekend. that’s because of major climate changes, our summer has been reduced to one month. one month!

for beach and summer people like us, it’s unthinkable. it’s almostĀ  a crime.

so last saturday (and fortunately since the past couple of days) the sun finally did come out.

Ooh bubbles! by you.

and it was time to bring out the pool!

my Weekend Snapshot entry, after a looong hiatus from the meme.

Mia’s Floating Friend

October 20th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, FabFinds, Weekend Snapshot

This isn’t an early Halloween entry, don’t worry. And besides, I’m not about to spook myself and involve Mia. :)

I found that the floating pet balloons (the shiny doggy) that once used to sell about P500 apiece at Hobbes and Landes in Bonifacio High Street is now selling at only P150 at Toy Kingdom! When I chanced on this last weekend at a 3-day sale in Megamall, I immediately made up my mind to buy it. (Forgive the bad photo, she just wouldn’t stop moving!)

It’s an adorable toy that floats just enough above the ground and has wobbly plastic accordions for legs so when you pull on it, it actually walks! It was so nice that when they sold it initially at Hobbes and all the (rich) little kids were toting at least one, I wanted Mia to be part of the “in crowd” of toddlers.

Now I’m actually thankful I resisted that urge. :D

Fun Ranch Weekend

October 2nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Weekend Snapshot

This is my [very] late Weekend Snapshot entry. Had a bout of migraine and bad tummy last Monday, that’s why. But anyway, Mia and I spent last Saturday at the Fun Ranch at Tiendesitas. If it wasn’t hot, it would have been lots of fun for Mommy.

For her though, it was as if all the UV rays of the sun could’ve shone and she couldn’t care less. :D

Mia loved the bumper boats the most. In the pond they actually have live fish (that you can also fish out), to which Mia happily responded, “peece!”

As for me, as long as she enjoyed it, I’m happy. :D

And since I thought it would be fun with more kids around that Mia can play with, we invited her 2 (second) cousins this coming Saturday. Yey!

Baguio [ws]

September 8th, 2008 | 12 Comments | Posted in What's it like to be me

(Click on the photos for a larger view. I hate that it’s pixelized here)

Just got home from Baguio City last Saturday for work. It was nice taking a pseudo-break from the city.

Even though I was there for 3 days and 2 nights of work, I didn’t miss taking advantage of the nice sceneries, the fresh air, and the good food. yum! :)

Nerdness to the next level [ws]

September 1st, 2008 | 12 Comments | Posted in Books, Weekend Snapshot

Nothing beats holing up in your room, settling with a good book on your bed by the window on a weekend, and watching Mia over the pages of your Grisham novel.

2 weekends ago I bought 4 books (Septimus Heap Book 4 not included in the photo) and it was only last Saturday that I got time to read one. And it was such a joy ripping off the plastic coverings, flipping the pages and smelling its ‘newness’. :D

How was your weekend?

Toys for the boys… and the girls too

August 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Techie Stuff, Weekend Snapshot

It’s one of those lazy weekends again, after one long, crazy work week. And crazy is such an understatement. So I just didn’t have the heart to bring out my laptop on a nice Saturday morning and borrowed my brothers’ Sony PSP instead.

Since I couldn’t win over this German girl on a clay court (even if I was Sharapova) on Virtual Tennis 3, and the other games were too violent for me, I discovered that I could still surf the net with the PSP. Grabe, junkie talaga. I just had to configure the thing to browse the Internet.

So this replaces my Asus laptop, which by the way has been adopted by my youngest brother, on my computer table. It looks kinda lonely…

How was your weekend?

Sing! [ws]

August 11th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Videos, Weekend Snapshot

I’m veering away a little bit from the ’snapshot’ theme, and sharing a video of one of our usual weekends.

Mommy’s just a bit of a stage mom isn’t she? :)

My music girl {ws}

July 28th, 2008 | 21 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Weekend Snapshot

Guess what Mia can do now?

Make lots of noise with the drum set at home, that’s what :D But she’s really good at it because it’s not so disorganized like how babies usually do it.

I guess weekends like these will be spend exploring more of Mia’s (and mommy’s) musical skills. Why not?

How was yours? Learned anything new lately?

What’s cooking? [WS]

July 7th, 2008 | 6 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Weekend Snapshot

Since Mia had been sick since Thursday, I’ve tried every imaginable thing to make her feel better because I know she was so bored just hanging on to Mommy the ENTIRE time. :)

I got out my old cooking play set and let her play with it. Yup, that was mine when I was about 4 or 5 years old. You can imagine how old that toy set is. I can still remember how it worked. The stove would actually make bubbles when you put the pot on it with water. Don’t you just love old toys back in the days and you didn’t have to worry if it came from some toxic wasteland?

Ahh, fond memories. :)

Sunday Playtime [ws]

June 16th, 2008 | 16 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Family Matters, Weekend Snapshot

Sundays once or twice a month usually mean playtime for me and Mia with my cousins and their kids.

Tita Sarah: Seriously Mia, did you think your mom is gonna let you have that piece of chocolate?

Mia: (very confused now)

Mia: What? The chocolate has a thousand calories in it!?? Mom!!!

Me: I told you so!

Clarice: Well that’s how it is. Whatever tastes good is always, always unhealthy.

Mia: I see…

Tita Baby (background): Tingnan mo tong dalawang to, ke-bata-bata pa, diet na ang pinag-uusapan!

Clarice: Well, don’t forget what I told you about chocolates! They’re good for you while you’re a kid and you still have all your teeth!

Mia: I won’t! See you soon!

And that was my weekend. How was yours? :)

Doors and Windows

April 28th, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in Weekend Snapshot, What's it like to be me

When God closes the door, He opens a window.

He opens a window so I can see,

That He’s working it out,

The very best for me.

He opens a window just for me.

These are familiar lines for most of us, but do you know where it came from? As far as my memory is concerned, it was a song from the Joseph the Dreamer soundtrack that my dad has. It’s been with us ever since I can remember and growing up in a family where Sunday School is part of your childhood and Psalty the song book is as famous as Mickey himself, it’s an embedded song lyric in my mind already.

Anyway, you might be thinking what this has got to do with my weekend. I did almost nothing over the weekend, just played around with Mia and finally got to catch up on my reading. I guess I decided to give myself a break after what I’ve emotionally gone through over the week. The photo of the window is just a reminder for me to take things easy, and that even if some things aren’t meant to be, it’s only because God has opened a window so I could see.

Shopping [weekend snapshot]

April 21st, 2008 | 14 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Weekend Snapshot

Going out with Mia is one of the times that I really look forward to, especially when my week has been really tiring and sometimes disappointing. This weekend, we went out with some of our cousins and went to Trinoma Mall. Mia was a handful as usual, but she was especially cooperative when it came to going around the department store. :) She even insisted on carrying around her own bag (in this video).

Splash! [weekend snapshot]

April 14th, 2008 | 10 Comments | Posted in Ready jetset go!, Weekend Snapshot

Splash!

Mia and I enjoyed a bit of summer fun at the Pulilan Butterfly Farm in Bulacan. Three swimming pools, nice landscaping, good company, and lots of food. Good times.

And yeah, they breed butterflies for use in weddings and events.

Glass Tomb

Too bad, I wasn’t able to take a photo of a live butterfly. Am too scared. Seriously.

The Butterfly Haven

More photos on my next travel post. :)
