What’s the all the fuss about born again people being just a bunch of ‘amen’’s and ‘hallelujah’’s? That they’re nothing but diehard Christians who will try to shove their ‘religion’ down your throats?
Is their God really that of a killjoy? Why is it that when you talk about Protestants or Born Agains, you think about long skirts, boring Sunday services, and hymns? That if you “become one of them” you don’t get to have fun anymore?
That’s the great big lie.
That being born again is nothing but a religion that zaps all the happiness and enjoyment of the world out of you.
The devil has worked so hard to pull this faux reality over our eyes, kind of Matrix-like, so we don’t see the truth. You ask me then, what on earth is the truth? Now take the red pill with me.
The truth is that, God in fact is not boring. That He’s not the one depriving us of our enjoyment of His creation. Of His gifts. Of love, of happiness, of contentment.
The devil has worked so hard to make us believe that smoking is cool, that you need nicotine relieves the stress, that drugs is a great way of e
scape, that alcohol makes you brave, that promiscuity is the norm these days, that cursing makes you tough, that adultery is ok as long as you don’t get caught, that lying gets you out of trouble, that in stealing, the end justifies the means. That the norm is to go with the flow, not against it even when it means getting mocked for being a killjoy. That getting even is the most logical thing to do, and not to forgive. That immorality is known by other names and that it’s ok because everyone is doing it.
And if you can’t do all these things, you are chained. You are deprived of being human. You drag a big ball and chain around your ankles and unhappiness is your friend for life.
I used to think that way too, don’t get me wrong. So what made me change my mind?
It’s the great big truth about God.
It’s the truth that God’s will is pleasing and perfect. That your body is a gift and it is meant to be taken care of. That means smoking or drinking or doing drugs do not. All these things that the Bible says we shouldn’t do are all for our benefit after all, not the other way around. I cannot find anything in God’s words that mean our destruction or our downfall. It is the world that deprives us of the enjoyment of God and His creations.
If you find something in the Bible that says otherwise, do let me know. It’s funny how everything that was meant to be good and enjoyed by man has been turned around against God.
“3The time is coming when people won’t listen to good teaching. Instead, they will look for teachers who will please them by telling them only what they are itching to hear. 4They will turn from the truth and eagerly listen to senseless stories. 5But you must stay calm and be willing to suffer. You must work hard to tell the good news and to do your job well.” 2 Timothy 4:3-5 (Contemporary English Version)
“11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:11-12 (NIV)

[...] Many would say that when you surrender your life to God you give up all rights and privileges to yourself. In a way that could be the truth, but I strongly believe that it is quite the other way around. [...]
