it pays to be polite
especially when you’re polite to your toddler. i love how kids can easily imitate an adult’s actions and words. their minds are just a sponge, even at this early age. the rate of learning is just so fast that you don’t know where to start teaching them.
so i started when Mia began talking. or blabbering, that is. simple everyday conversations would be my mode of teaching and i would always say “please”, “thank you”, “welcome”, “excuse me”, and even “see you, ingat”.
guess what, those are phrases she regularly use now. sometimes i don’t even tell her to say them, but since she hears that from us at home, she just copies.
case in point is the “excuse me”. i was just surprised one day a few months back when she wanted to pass through and i was blocking her way. she tried to push me aside and said, “etut me!” very loudly (and maybe even a little irritated).
now that just made my day.

That’s how we teach young kids these days. The four magic words, “Thank You, Please, Excuse me and Sorry”.
Nice naman the blouse-on in Mia, lady-like na sya ha?

hala. alamo, sometimes (and mostly because of our pinoy-ness) we avoid confronting other people when it comes to their behavior around our kids even if we really want to, dahil nahihiya tayo. but one thing i learned about parenting is that we should never be. they’re our kids, so we have all the right how they should grow up.
so here’s to us and our polite kids.

i think that’s really true. kids tend to mimic their elders
i love it when i come across a polite kid. it means that he/ she was brought up well
