This Journal Will Actually Change Your Life 2009

November 30th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Clothes & Stuff, FabFinds

I looove my new 2009 planner.

Not that my life needs a lot of changing (it actually does, but that’s another story). I just happened to have a very hectic life these days and Bill Gates cannot keep up with me. I’m relying on my laptop’s Outlook Calendar, which means whenever I need to check my schedule and things to do, I still need to open it. And that’s a bit inconvenient when I don’t want to lug it around wherever I go.

So, part of my wishlist this year was to get This Journal Will Actually Change Your Life. And my wish was granted early, thanks to my dear cousin. :D Yey! Truth is, I actually completed the Starbucks Planner sticker thingamajig, but I’m picking this one over it. More »

The customer is ALWAYS right.

Include this one in the chain emails that go around the internet. I hate Cebu Pacific for this.

Good day,

I’d like to complain about the refund policy for the cancelled flight 5J932 bound for Bangkok, Thailand. I was informed by the hotline customer service rep that the booking I made cannot be refunded anymore even if the cause for cancellation (situation in Thailand) is force majeur. This is because it’s a promo flight booking.

Where my concern is coming from, is the rules and regulations that Cebu Pacific has in your website that says,

9.2 Cancellations and Change of Schedule
At any time after a booking has been made we may change our schedules and/ or cancel, terminate, divert, postpone, reschedule or delay any flight where we reasonably consider this to be justified by circumstances beyond our control or for reasons of safety or security.

In the event of such flight cancellation, we shall at our option, either:

a) rebook you on the next available flight without additional charge; or

b) offer to refund your Ticket;

The foregoing constitutes your sole remedy against us for such circumstances.

It does not say anywhere in there that if your booking happens to be a promo flight, it’s exempted from being refunded. I understand also that in the booking ticket it says it’s non-refundable. But then again, since the cause of the cancellation is force majeur, doesn’t this call for an exemption to the rule?

Let me tell you also that I am one unhappy customer. My parents, who are the ones supposed to be bound for Thailand, cannot have any other flight schedule. Which means that we are unable to use the booking anymore. Which also means that I just blew P10k++ in travel taxes that are never going to actually happen.

This is one policy that you should forward to the heavens that be, to let them know that your customer service, fine print rules, and in-flight games suck.

Iris

Just in case you’re not aware, flights to Bangkok, Thailand were cancelled because of some political hullabaloo which caused the airports there to close down. A lot of people were also stranded there because protesters took over the grounds. Still, I am one pissed customer.

Begin with the end [lp]

Angkor Wat by you.

Begin with the end in mind.

-Stephen Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

In whatever aspect of life, we can win. It just takes a matter of perspective and a resolution to finish what you start.

It’s that time of the year again

November 16th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Tag you're it!, What's it like to be me

And I come back with a wishlist post. :D Yep Claire, we do have dry spells. We just wish somewhere in the middle of it that it goes away.

Fow now, let’s say I’m on my way there. I can’t write about it here though; too sensitive. But hey, the season is getting to me and that’s a much brighter and sunnier topic to write about.

Now this is the part of the year that I love the most. Rehashing Christmas wishlists! Last year, I wished for an iPhone, bibingka, and a shopping spree at Fully Booked. The year before that, I wanted a Pilot G-Tech pen, Gaiman’s graphic novel books, and a pair of Nike Shox. I may have not gotten all of my wishes, but the fun is in listing them down. So how about you list yours too and let’s do a linkathon? :)

  1. A nice set of headphones or earphones to use when working in the office so nobody can disturb me
  2. Nike slippers to replace the one I broke (I loved that one pa naman)
  3. This Journal Will Actually Change Your Life in 2009 from Fully Booked
  4. Technomarine watch
  5. 1 year free web hosting plan :)
  6. Starbucks thermal mug because my old Santa one is also broken
  7. An educational plan for Mia! Which I am planning to get starting next year…
  8. an iBook. nuff said.
  9. and rehashing items #12 and #13 in my 2005 list…

So what are on your wish lists this year, Mee, Vannie, Kcee, Anne, Jayme, ate Pao, Tin, and Nell? And please consider this my “welcome back” hello. :)

Stranger #2: Mr. Jun

Stranger #2: Jun by you.

Those who can’t do, have to make do. :) I was totally unprepared for this encounter so I had to make do with my N70’s phone camera and a lot of editing.

This was taken at the St. Luke’s Medical Center lobby, after Mia was discharged from the hospital. It has been a grueling 4 days of confinement, and for the people at St. Luke’s, they will spare no expense to make their ‘guests’ feel at ease because of well, whatever purpose they have for being at a hospital.

Mr. Jun is part of that effort. He was playing a baby grand piano at the lobby while chatting to a doctor. I approached them and asked if he (Jun) was also a doctor. He laughed and said no. The other guy said, “I’m the doctor. He’s a doctor of music.”

So there you go. Wasn’t too embarrassed because of that. It turns out Mr. Jun (forgot his last name) is also a professor at the University of the Philippines’ College of Music, which is my alma mater.

Mr. Jun is my second stranger for the 100 Strangers project. If you want to learn interesting ways and techniques to photograph human subjects (and learn about them), join us.
