Zero Comes Before Juan

May 20th, 2008 Posted in Ready jetset go!

watyai10.jpgNow who wouldn’t have been drawn to that kind of marketing ploy? Cebu Pacific has just offered another low-fair travel period for the months of June to December 2008. It’s the consumers who are rejoicing right now because just when the “Piso Flight” (One-Peso Flight) was becoming such a catchphrase, they again lowered the air fares to, guess what’s lower than P1? Zero. That’s right.

The airline is not charging for its services anymore and you would only have to pay for travel and airport taxes and insurance. So, what has this got to do with my current disappointment over the Canon EOS 400d? It means all my saving efforts for this year will have to be diverted for the sake of my itchy traveling feet and my love for my parents. :)

You see, my friends and I have this pact that every year, we get to go on a ‘getaway’, be it in summer or in the last quarter of the year. This year, after the previous trips to local beaches, we sort of vowed to get out of the country for a change. It became an escape for some, and a photowhoring session for most. For me it’s both, and a little bit more.

clue #2: shopping, anyone?

As for my parents, I wanted to send them off for their 28th wedding anniversary in December. My mom needn’t any more prompting when she mere mentioned to me she wanted to book a flight too. So I told her it’s my anniversary gift for them. It’s the least I could do after all, they’re the best baby sitters in the world. :)

Guess where I’m headed in September? :) So you think it’s now worth the opportunity loss of the EOS 400d? Please, please say yes! Hehe.

The argument of course is the SLR can take great pictures but it won’t get you anywhere. Whereas the zero fare can get you many places where your Sony Cybershot would be a perfect companion. Good choice. Enjoy your trip.

Congratulations to your parents too on their anniversary.

BTW, Malaysia Airlines is also having a seat sale to kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur.

yes! thank you doc em! :) haha i feel like a winner.

and thank you for my parents.

my boss said there isn’t much to see and do in kota kinabalu. parang temples lang daw dun or something like that. but it’s interesting. the airlines really are getting more competitive no? good for the consumers.

I’m also in the market for a 400D or a 450D after I left my trusty Fuji S5000 (our first digital camera) outside in the rain. I took some photos of a hot air balloon passing above our house when I put it down in the dog house and forgot about it – days later I saw it still there after several days of drenching rain.

But – I digress – Happy Anniversary to your mum and dad. Von Boyage on your trip. Nice chatting with you earlier.
