This is one of those times I wish Mia was born full-term. At other times, it’s really ok that she chose to greet the world earlier than scheduled. I’ve been having a difficult time getting Mia to eat, not just a particular food, but every type of food. Well not everything. She can feed herself noodles and that’s the only time she can finish what I put on her bowl.
But lately fruits and veggies have taken the back seat in her diet and the only thing she’ll welcome with open arms is chocolate. So why do I wish she was born full term? At least she would have gained enough weight to be on track, and not just her height that’s doing ok.
We just had our routine wrestling-slash-crying session, err, checkup with the doctor this morning and she says Mia’s height is within the acceptable range but her weight is not. She’s just at 8.6kg or 18.96lbs. That’s pretty underweight for a toddler her age.
There was this little kid who is 1 year and 3 months old (just 2 months younger than Mia) who was at the hospital at the same time as us and she was huge. She was so big and chubby (and cute) that when she was walking by herself and her mom was telling her to be careful, I thought, ‘How else could she fall off her 2 feet with all that weight?’
That was meant in a positive way, mind you, but really, I was thinking to myself the baby wasn’t even wobbling, she was so sturdy already!
Mia’s other developmental milestones have been great and pretty surprising, and the weight department is just one area that she needs to be better in. I know, at another point in the future it could be a problem again, but right now all I want for her is to gain the right amount of weight.
Our pediatrician actually changed her vitamins to include Cellife, a food suplement that is mixed in food or beverages three times a day. Ever heard about it? I was wondering kasi how effective it will be for Mia. She used to just take Ceelin and Clusivol for kids, but it wasn’t just working.
How about you, what vitamins do you give your kid? And any tips on getting toddlers to eat more? I’d really appreciate it.

ris, don’t worry. nabasa ko dati somewhere na yung mga kids na hindi full term, nakakacatch-up din naman sa weight and height eventually.

ozzy loves that dole fruit in a cup ba un, may papaya, pineapple, peaches.
i let him have that pag di kumakain. oher times, like mia, noodles talaga.
anyway, ceelin lang ung vitamins ni Ozzy,ok naman. hindi sha sakitin & all.
veggies?ayaw din nya?sometimes i let him feed himself; gusto niya un kumakain sha kase feeling nya grown up na!
also, fish..ung white fish..try mo rin ^^

she used to like fruits and veggies. pero biglang nawala yung appetite for those. ewan ko ba. when i do give her noodles, it’s the home cooked one, not the instant. ang daming MSG nung instant eh, ayoko naman masanay.
well anyway back to square one nanaman kami dahil namayat nanaman..
I give my baby Ceelin and Cherifer. Don’t worry too much, as long as Mia is active and happy, she’ll be fine. Just keep trying to feed her the healthy stuff. Baka with repetition, she’ll learn to like them soon enough. Or think of more creative ways to incorporate vegetables into her meals like maybe cutting veggies into cute shapes or mashing them with some of her favorite dishes.
oo nga no, i could do the shapes
time to get creative. hirap lang for working moms i almost never have the time to do it myself. minsan umaasa nalang ako sa mom ko.. but thanks for the tips
stages ata talaga yang pagiging picky eater. just try and try and dont give up! every child is different:)

i really hope it’s just a stage, for both our kids’ sakes. sabi nga din ng mom ko, try ko yung tiki tiki. pero before i could, eto nagkasakit nanaman si mia. but thanks for the advice dang

ok lang yan ris. ninna didn’t have a good appetite din before, pero now bumabawi na siya. did you check? baka mia’s growing her molars na? yan yung culprit kay ninna dati. ayaw kumain kasi it hurt to much to chew.
mia’s going to be a super kid, just wait and see.
Meeyas last blog post..Butil Butil
molars? isn’t that too early for her? i mean, she had her teeth come out nung 1 year old palang siya eh.. i was thinking maybe it’s really just a phase…
i can’t wait
Hi, just new here.
I only give her Propan and Growee, still hindi parin magana sa pagkain.
thanks
hi mhel! that’s funny, i replied to your comment the other day. hindi pala pumasok.
anyway, about cellife, it actually helped my baby gain some much needed mass. bumigat talaga siya, because from what i know, cellife is protein. no adverse effect naman, although her appetite didn’t shoot up like she was ravaging the next day
from the looks of it, your baby needs to be supplemented with lots of vitamins, and B vitamins most especially. kasi alam ko that’s the appetite booster. word of advice lang on propan and vitamins of the same kind. They’re not advisable to be used on a long term basis, siguro mga one month lang tama na. i don’t remember how exactly but i think it has an effect on the baby’s health.
anyway you can also try the suggestions of the other moms who commented here. basta don’t lose hope
right now my kid is eating better. more than anything, lots of tiyaga will do the trick!
let me know if this helps!
Hi i know cellife!!! My baby is 3 mos. old and just 5.1KG mejo mababa timbang, in terms of height well ok siya with her age mas matangkad siya compare to other babies her age. mejo mahina dumede since nagpalit siya ng gatas (from s-26 to NAN HW) since nag colic siya due to possible lactose intolerance sa dati niyang milk. Her pedia also gave her cellife to boost appetite daw (pampagana dumede) kasi talagang wala lasa NAN HW compare sa s26, since NAN HW na talaga ang hiyang na milk niya (nawala colic en pagiging kabagin eversince nag NAN HW siya. According to my pedia anti anemia din daw cellife since food supplement nga siya even for adult pwede siya (its powdery substance in 21 sachet per box and cellife na binigay niya sa baby ko.
hi imee! iba-iba lang talaga ang milk na hiyang sa mga babies. meron iba dun sila tumataba or yung iba namang nakakapag-diarrhea. like nido for Mia, so i stopped it muna. I went back to Promil. It also helps to check which milk has more protein kasi that in gaining weight and developing muscles.
but i’ve also stopped giving her cellife. i don’t know if that’s the one but there are vitamins (like propan) that shouldn’t be given for more than 3 months because it’s not exactly good for the baby’s development.
i hope your baby catches up in weight soon, just like mine.
and thanks for dropping by!
hi there, i guess its prety too late for this, but maybe it could help u p rin. My baby, Sassa was also having a weight problem when she was like 3 mos. p lng. she was just 5.28 lbs when i gave birth to her pero tama s buwan. She got sick at 3 mos. and since then, bumagal n paglaki nya. imagine, from 5.4 kls. at 3 mos., naging 5.6 lng at 4 mos., then at 5 mos, naging 6 kls. and then again, she gained only .2 kls when she was 6 mos. My pedia told me that her weight was still ok but if she will only gain .2 kls a month, it will definitely affect her development. That was the time she prescribed CELLIFE to Sassa which comes in a box with 21 sachets. It is a green powder that can be mixed with food or beverages, 3 times a day or 3 sachets per day. in Sassa’s case, I mix it with her formula milk, Gain until now. Fortunately, after a month of taking it, Sassa gained .8 kls. I believe CELLIFE is really effective to gain weight, so if u haven’t tried it yet for your child, maybe now is the right time. Good luck!!!
hi jane! thanks for the tip
but i did that as well, before Mia turned a year old. i would put it in her milk as well. it helped her gain weight since it’s all protein.
but i had to stop (saw when giving Propan and all those weight/appetite boosting meds) giving her Cellife because my cousin who’s a pedia told me it’s not exactly good for her in the long run. those are supposed to be given only not more than 3 months. hindi siya dapat sustained kasi after that the child is supposed to have good appetite already without the aid of meds.
Hope that’s an insight for you too
Hi!
I just like to ask where did you purchase the Cellife cause i have checked with mercury and Watson they don’t have that kind of product. My baby is also boned premature.
Hope you could help me..
Thank you!
hi chen! cellife was only available at my doctor’s. she told me it really wasn’t sold in any drugstore. i think you need to ask your pedia if it’s ok for your baby to take it, and if so she can probably tell you where you can get it.
personally, i think you need to consult your pedia about anything you give your kid, especially if it’s a drug or food supplement.
i hope that’s useful and good luck with your baby!
my pediatrician also prescribes cellife for my baby.. it’s available in southstar drug and generika drug. imho, it’s a supplement.. mostly 70 percent protein and about 20 percent carbohydrates…and it is all natural.. no additives or preservatives… as i’ve mentioned it’s a supplement not a drug, but according to my pedia… it has a study on for weight gain… and can be used for diarrhea ..when mixed with ors… shortens the diarrhea… addresses anemia too.. as well as be given to pre-term babies.
Thank you for the input, Kristin! I know, cellife can be a good supplement, but not really a substitute for vitamins or the “real deal” =)
So it’s a good thing it’s widely available now, compared to before.
Hi wer po nabibili yng cellife?
Ty
Hi Ellen!
Thanks for dropping by. The last time I bought it, which was years ago, I got it from my pedia’s secretary. But she also told me it was available at South Star Drug. SSD is mostly anchored in Robinsons malls.
I hope you can still find it. If not, you can try Appebon vitamins or Vitamin B complex.
Hope that helps!
