Rawr!
I couldn’t be happier with what I got from retaking this very interesting visual DNA personality test. Mostly because it got me right. My personality would be the Wild Cat’s, but don’t worry, I don’t bite.

Magandang LP weekend!
I never thought I would be the one under the microscope. Well at least under my own scrutiny. Being a single mom means to me that I should never break down, should worry the least, and be the strongest. Now it isn’t
so. I hate to admit it, but I think I’m the one having feelings of separation anxiety from Mia. I knew it would be tough being a working mom but I never realized it would be this hard. I’ve always had my self-confidence intact but being away from home at least 10 hours a day (and some days I leave home while Mia’s still asleep or I get hom and she’s asleep) has eaten away parts of it.
Just the other night, Mia woke up at 2am crying, because of a bad dream probably, and she didn’t want her mommy. I did everything to soothe her: rocked her, hugged her, told her ‘it’s ok mommy’s here’. But she said no, no, no’, cried and bawled until my mom went up to my room and took her to calm her down. When the room went quiet that’s when I realized how useless I felt.
I thought to myself, can I not calm even my own baby? Is the attachment that temporary between us? It’s over-paranoia I know, but you do get that feeling sometimes. Before when I come home, she used to greet me with a wide smile and hug me. Lately it’s just a stare if I’m lucky, and she won’t even come to me when I call her. The TV is a tough competition. I want to tell my mom or whoever’s taking care of her when I get home to avoid watching television when she’s around. Because she tends to get glued to it. Nevertheless, the detachment has affected me more than I would have wanted.
Lately I’ve ‘forced’ her to notice me by being giving her lots and lots of attention, so much so that I’m now worrying that I might spoil her on the other hand. So what should I do? I really hate the feeling.
It’s malling time again for me and Mia during the weekend. I had to buy her new shoes and sandals because her old ones are too small already. Hay, bilis! And this time around, I couldn’t keep her from playing with the displays, touching the mannequins, bouncing up and down on the Disney rocking chairs, and grabbing things from the shelf (especially when they’re bags). I guess it’s a sign that Mia’s getting bigger now. Pretty soon I might have to buy that toddler string to attach to her and myself when we go out.
Even my mom can’t keep her from jumping into the inflatable pool display at Rustan’s anymore. Uh-oh.
How was your weekend?
Lately I’ve noticed how crammed my schedule is, day in and day out. There’s just no more time to play. Except with Mia, that is. But even then I feel like I’m too tired. Hay, the lifestyle of a working mom. I do allow myself certain luxuries from time to time, like a treat at the mall (note: a treat, singular. No splurges for now. hehe) or 3 hours in front of the TV watching DVD of a movie or a series, or 2 hours of playing computer games on my laptop.
I mentioned before there’s this mystery game I’ve been very absorbed in which kept me in playing for 4 hours. No kidding, I’m that engrossed in games too. Just never had the time. If I actually let myself custom build pcs and installed the Need For Speed Most Wanted DVD game, I think blogging won’t be part of my past time now.
I’d be a sucker for loaded speakers and an entire gaming experience right at my fingertips.
Well, back to reality. pft.
This photo will only give half the justice the beauty of the place. The water exceeds the hue of the roughest aquamarine stone.
Pasensha na at hindi ko talaga mapigilang mag-Ingles nalang. Mahirap pala mag-Filipino ng matatas.
Ngunit sana ay magustuhan niyo aking mga kuha. Magandang LP weekend!
Now who wouldn’t have been drawn to that kind of marketing ploy? Cebu Pacific has just offered another low-fair travel period for the months of June to December 2008. It’s the consumers who are rejoicing right now because just when the “Piso Flight” (One-Peso Flight) was becoming such a catchphrase, they again lowered the air fares to, guess what’s lower than P1? Zero. That’s right.
The airline is not charging for its services anymore and you would only have to pay for travel and airport taxes and insurance. So, what has this got to do with my current disappointment over the Canon EOS 400d? It means all my saving efforts for this year will have to be diverted for the sake of my itchy traveling feet and my love for my parents.
You see, my friends and I have this pact that every year, we get to go on a ‘getaway’, be it in summer or in the last quarter of the year. This year, after the previous trips to local beaches, we sort of vowed to get out of the country for a change. It became an escape for some, and a photowhoring session for most. For me it’s both, and a little bit more.

clue #2: shopping, anyone?
As for my parents, I wanted to send them off for their 28th wedding anniversary in December. My mom needn’t any more prompting when she mere mentioned to me she wanted to book a flight too. So I told her it’s my anniversary gift for them. It’s the least I could do after all, they’re the best baby sitters in the world.
Guess where I’m headed in September?
So you think it’s now worth the opportunity loss of the EOS 400d? Please, please say yes! Hehe.
Love, love, love the weather! It’s windy, just the right kind of cloudiness, and best of all it’s not hot. It would’ve been the perfect time to go out but it pours sometimes. The weather’s a bit hormonal, don’t you think?
So Mia and I just stayed indoors which meant she gets to indulge in her recent fascination with the big window in our room (which you have and will be seeing more of as I’m recycling photos now for memes, hehe), looking at the world outside. (We don’t go out much kasi, I was a bit holed up growing up in our neighborhood, so I guess the practice isn’t passed on. That’s something I regret however, since I want Mia to be able to interact with kids her age too. I noticed she’s beginning to get curious about kids she sees. She’s a bit shy sometimes, but more often than not, she’s really friendly.)
Mia’s also discovered another talent, aside from making pa-cute. Haha. She sings! But Mia’s singing is not the coherent, melodious type but more of a babble in a softer voice. It’s so cute, I wish I could record it properly because her voice is too soft sometimes. This is her face when she sings, though:
Babble or not, it’s always, always a beautiful sound to me. So, how was your weekend?

…maglaro ng apoy. Alam niyo naman kung bakit. Ang I’m not just being literal.
Naks, nagpaka-profound nanaman ako. Haha. Sana’y magustuhan niyo ang litratog ito. Kuha gamit ang aking lumang Nokia camera phone noong 2006. Inedit. At opo, kamay ko yan.
Magandang LP weekend!
[Oh temptation, get away from me!]

a conversation via Multiply, where I was actually kidding about the price tag
My cousin in the US is selling his Canon EOS 400D 10mp dSLR. He’s throwing in the 18-55mm kit lens, the 2gb CF card, a battery, and the carrying case for free too. All for P25k. I should’ve said P20k. Crap.
Should I or should I not?
That is the question killing me right now. On one hand, I’d be able to shoot all the beauty in this world including Mia with such nice lenses. Such really really pretty lenses. Sigh. I know I’m not as techie when it comes to dSLRs, I just know this is a far cry from the crappy Sony Cybershot we have now.
On the other hand, that’ll cost me about a few months’ worth of Starbucks, lunch outs, and a brand new pair of boots supposedly. Sigh again.
And did you notice, he’s also sending brand new Nintendo Wii units for selling (Price excludes handling and shipping pala). Any takers? Let me know
Or maybe I should just get a lomo.
But the 400D is way better, precious.
I know, but can we affords it?
There’s always a way, my precioussss, there’s always a way.
I’ve woken up several mornings in the past week either with a stuffy or runny nose all because of my allergic rhinitis. I know it can’t be helped because I haven’t been sleeping early lately. Oh well, mommy duties. It’s crappy (the colds, not the mommy duties), I promise, but what’s worse than the constant sniffing, blowing, and wiping is the verrrrry itchy, swolen and red eyes I get because of dust mites or a bed bug bite. I usually get that from lying or sitting on really old and stuffy mattresses and couches (like the one in my grandma’s house), even when I’ve just been there a couple of minutes. That’s how bad my allergies are and it really sucks. It’s a good thing they’ve replaced and kept them clean since I always complained about the dust whenever I visited. Should’ve known earlier there are many ways to get rid of bed bug infestations instead of enduring the irritating allergy. And to think at times I don’t have my medication with me. Tsk.
Since I wasn’t able to post for Weekend Snapshot last Monday (because Mia and I had to take a vacation at the hospital), I’m still going to post what we did over the last 2 weekends

Well tags aren’t exactly posies but the title just seemed apt for what I’m about to launch into in this post: a lot of tags! First of, Christine asked me what my to-do things are.
Mia’s Favorite toy
Mia has no particularly favorite toy because right now she just loves to explore the things around here. But as a rule of thumb, anything simple, small/handy, curious looking, and most of the time inedible will almost always do.
Dockers has just opened a TV commercial contest for all film makers, whether digital, animation, or stock (but of course digital would be the best choice since it’s cheaper than stock film, unless of course you are rich — with sponsors, that is).
I remember back in college when my friends, who are mostly film majors, used to join short film contests. I used to envy them because that was their life’s work: to be a film maker who calls the shots. Now I call the shots but in another industry
Anyway, you can tell how much contests like these can give exposure to up and coming names in the film and advertising industries.
Guess who directed (edited, scored, the terms go on) some of the award-winning local music videos, some acclaimed indie films, and many known commercials you see on TV? I’m proud to say my friends have really gone a long way. I could’ve been one of them but my fate was different. I was meant to be on the other end of the tube, watching their work
So, are you inspired to start somewhere now? All you need is a videocam, your creative juices, and time to burn. Of course, some money wouldn’t hurt, a few classes in respected schools (like mine, ahem. hehe), and crazy friends will definitely help. When you’ve rounded that up, join the Dockers contest and submit your video for a chance to win world renowned fame!
No seriously, you get to be watched during the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC. Read the contest details here for more information. Here’s one really nice take on the Dockers SF clip.
Hey thanks for the comments and the visits. I haven’t been able to reply to and approve (and sort through the spam comments) comments because since Tuesday Mia has been confined to the hospital for acute gastroenteritis. She probably got it from eating barbecue at a cousin’s birthday party last Sunday and while I’ve been careful not to give her any kind of food or meat that’s not well cooked, it’s just hard to keep track of what goes into her mouth especially when she just loves to get her hands on anything. And you know how kids are when they see food from other people’s hands they just flash those big puppy eyes and reach out to you so you just cannot resist giving in.
That was Sunday. By Monday night, after amusing us with her insistent ability to keep people up despite the hour, Mia kept throwing up whatever food and milk she had in her tummy. That happened every hour or so. I was already near tears everytime she wakes up convulsing so at 2:30am I decided to bring her to the hospital. I am so grateful to my parents that they kept awake with me all throughout. The helpless feeling that you don’t know what’s happening to your kid is just plain horrible.
At the ER they took Mia’s blood sample and that was another wrestling match. Since I couldn’t bear to have her inserted with an IV again (because of what happened the last time), and since the resident doctor said there was nothing abnormal with her blood test, I decided to just take her home and give her lots of Pedialyte and Gatorade.
Thing is she didn’t get better by morning, 3 hours of restless sleep later, and she threw up again so I packed our bags and went to see her pediatrician. The rest, they say is history.
Well now we’re home; we could’ve gone home earlier had the billing department of World Citi Medical Center done their jobs a little more efficiently. Hmp.
Anyway lesson learned, make sure to let people know not to give feed Mia raw foods especially meat and except fruits and veggies. Mia and I are back at square one. Kailangan magpataba ulit. She lost some weight and she’s already a skinny little baby. But a very cute one at that :). It’s been one hell of a week and I’m really tired. So next week na lahat ng utang na posts.
