For Kids!: Mia’s March Fab5

Presenting, Mia’s fab finds for the month of March!
1. Ants & Bees educational baby tees, P275.00 for 2
(3rd fl Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas Center, Pasig City)
I like tees that have statements or cute graphics on them. I once bought Mia a shirt that has “MY MOM IS A ROCKSTAR” written on it in gold (from Havin’ A Baby). At Ants & Bees, found at the new baby lane of Robinsons Galleria, they have babies’ t-shirts that are printed with educational statements or pictures. Like the 2 that I bought for her at Galleria’s 3-day weekend sale.
(Joyce Kilmer’s Tree poem printed on one of the shirts)
The store’s tag line, “Smart Clothes for Smart Kids”, positions itself as a unique clothing line for kids that actually ‘makes sense’. The merchandise is reasonably priced, ranging from P250 to P400. Clothes sizes also range from size 2 to 8, good for toddlers to 4-year olds.
2. Ginbis Party Animals Biscuit, P22-23
(Hi-Top Supermarket)
Calcium rich, butter flavored or coconut flavored, and animal shaped biscuits are what you get from this box. Mia likes it a lot because of its yummy and creamy taste, light and crunchy bite. And so does mommy.
3. Century Car Seat from the U.S. Surplus Depot, P750
(Tomas Morato Ave., corner E. Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City (right across the Petron gas station)
I’m not really an ukay fanatic so going through the surplus depot isn’t something I’m really fond of. It’s dusty and smells of old stuff that came from the US, and for an allergic rhinitis victim like me, it’s a nightmare. While the US Surplus Depot is not ukay-ukay in a sense that they’re not selling clothes but old, overrun stocks of toys, old TV sets and appliances, some furniture, and Correl pieces would you believe? But most of all, they were selling old car seats, strollers, and baby carriers, which are all branded (Graco, Baby First, Century, etc.). It was my mom who discovered the place and it was she who convinced me to buy the car seat there instead of spending thousands at the department store.
Well, I can see now the wisdom of her advice. The one I bought is pretty much in good condition (we just had to clean the seat cover and scrub the seat really well) and doesn’t look used that much. Mia now enjoys her new place in the car.
4. Baby’s First Words and Colors board books, P75/each
(National Bookstore, The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City)
Bought this one at the National Bookstore. They’re really bound up really nice and colorful, and at such a pretty low price. For Mia who likes tearing up anything made of paper or tissue, this is such a nice add to her collection of ‘invincible books’.
5. Kid Shop Blocks, P99.75/pack
(Toys ‘R Us, 4th fl Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas Center, Pasig City)
I’ve resolved to let Mia learn and play the creative way, so when I saw that she’s now capable of not just putting pieces of toys in her mouth, I bought these big blocks. There are 26 pieces of different sizes and colors in one pack, and are easy to fit into each other, just like Lego. I was tempted to buy the Lego Duplo pack but hell they’re very expensive (P800+ for a small box that can only make one figure i think). Maybe when she’s older I’ll jut get her the bigger boxes so it’s worth it.
So mommies, what are your fab finds for your kids? And oh yeah, Toys ‘R Us rocks!

Kahit for kids lang ito eh binasa ko na
sarap nung animal crackers!

i’m eyeing this cool duplo/lego set for amelie but she’s still biting her other plastic toy shapes now so i’m a bit hesitant.

tin, wag muna sayang naman yung duplo kung masisira lang because of bite marks
at this age, yung ibang stuff ni mia still isn’t safe from her. hehe.

sssshhhh… don’t tell about number 5 – they look more expensive than that so I got all my inaanaks from ages 2-5 a bag each for Christmas.
Given their growing number, we must do what we can. ;P

“Which one does not belong?” That’s easy and very cute. I think Pinas is the capital of “anything for the kids”. I always tell my sister not to ask me for anything for her baby dahil I am sure, mas magaganda dyan, like the rainbow rain-boots. Do you know “in” sya sa mga lady-like this winter, in LV prints pa.
Can I play? Gusto ko yan, parang brick-games, hahaha.

naku mia is like that also.. when she sees me eating chocolates (pano kaya nya nalalaman na chocs yon??), she smiles really wide and breaks my heart to hide it from her. hehehe. i guess kids talaga like anything sweet.

alam mo, the car seat is a good investment kahit sabihin pa na it’s not required in pinas. i’d rather na my kid is sitting safely at the back rather than jumping up and down and all around sa car, especially while i’m driving. nakaka-stress haha!
plus, since you got it at a bargain, its wonderful!

oo nga eh. they really should make it a law here also. and you know what, i was surprised that mia didn’t complain about being put in the back. buti nalang!

I love the cute t-shirts on number 1. Ants & Bees are great! I bought a t-shirt for my nephew that says “My Daddy Surfs Better Than Your Daddy”, but it wasn’t from Ants & Bees. Thanks for showcasing these cute and adorable items.
