An open ‘goodbye, love’ letter

Posted in Worklife on Mar 15, 2008

It was good while it lasted. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, and I’m sure the feeling is mutual. Things were great for a while and you offered me a life of excitement at some point. But we both know it won’t last forever. Relationships like this, especially for a young person like me, aren’t meant to endure forever. 5 years maybe at the most. Well for us, it was a 4-year-and-9-month itch that was waiting to be scratched.

So I’m letting go, for both our sakes. I feel like I won’t be able to give you more than you want. All because I’ve grown tired, and not because I can’t. You know that. I’ve so much to offer, but it won’t be you who’ll be waiting for me every morning, or afternoon, whatever. It won’t be you who will be hearing my daily exploits of success. It won’t be you I will ranting or raving about at the end of the day. Nope, you’re not going to get that pleasure anymore, of being my one and only.

Don’t be sad or disappointed. You’ll find someone else just as easily. It won’t be an insult to me because I know life’s like that. People come and go. It’s just up to us to make the most of it. I know I have.

Or maybe I could be wrong. You probably won’t be giving a crap if I was gone. You’d be usually apathetic and unappreciative like I’ve always known you. So maybe you can take that last pay and stick it up your ass. I wouldn’t really care. By the time you realize I’m gone, I’ll be out there fulfilling someone else’s wishes. I’ll actually be happy doing what I love most.

So goodbye, chocolate factory. Goodbye Jill, goodbye Jack. I’ll see you on my next trip to the supermarket.

Note: Just in case you’re still wondering who I’m talking about, it’s this: I just resigned from my job. *bow*

I got distracted by the photo itself really. Isn’t that you? It reminds me of my Island P., “goodbyes” is something I can’t do at the moment even if I wanted to - tumutulong pa kasi ako, Ris.

If only I was younger.. hehehe.

nope, that’s my best friend who posed for me. we were so excited kasi to see pagudpud’s beach, we couldn’t resist taking that common shot :)

oo nga eh, that’s often why a lot of us working people stay with current jobs that are more of a “job” than something we actually enjoy. well at least i hope you’re enjoying yours..

I just grew tired of my work, and I’m looking for something else na sasaya ako…
