Photoblogging: The stepping game

February 23rd, 2008 Posted in All about Mia, Photoblogging

Mia took her first step last Thursday, Feb 21. Though they were tiny one, two and a half steps, they were such huge steps for both of us.

This was how it started. I would sit her at the edge of the bed, her feet flat on the ground then I would coach her into standing up on her own.

I’ve been the fairest coach as far as I know because she’s already gotten a headstart a long time ago. She would mess up all my stuff on shelves just because…

At walang awatan yan dahil ako lang ang mapapagod kakaligpit.

But she’s been a good student so far. She’s learned to imitate and try things on her own like going up the stairs when no one’s looking trying to fit the blocks of shapes where they belong, and exploring my big bag of goodies.

Back to our stepping game. So finally last Thursday night, she had the courage to take that first step. I held out my hand to her, prodded her to stand up, and take a closer step to my outstretched arms. The first try had her all nervous, but after a while she was getting used to our game.

Guess what, she’s little by little overcoming her fear of going at it alone. I’m so proud of her.

In other news, her lola cut her bangs and now she’s sporting the summer look of 2008:

She hasn’t actually visited a salon yet (i don’t know what you call a salon where kids go and they have tiny car seats) because I’m pretty sure she will give her stylist (and me) a very hard time. But when it comes to modeling for mommy, she’s the best. :)
