post Category: All about Mia, Family Matters, Tag you're it! post postJanuary 29, 2008

vannie tagged me to write down top 5 things I want my child to know before he grows up. Or more specifically, top 5 values I should impart to my child to make him be a better person. and these are:

  • Faith in God - i appreciate how my own parents brought me and my brothers up, and that is with fear in God. i wouldn’t want it any other way with Mia
  • Great things start from small beginnings - the old English hound dog Sir Francis Drake couldn’t have put it any better. i want mia to learn that for her to make it big someday, she has to learn all the necessary steps to know what it’s like to start at the bottom. i want her to appreciate the kind of hard work her own lolo put in just to give us a comfortable life.
  • Respect - same with vannie, i want Mia to have utmost respect to her elders, authorities (save for when it becomes abusive, in which case value #4 will apply), and everyone else for that matter. we were raised to have an open mind and to never be judgemental on people.
  • Have solid principles to stand on - and be prepared to fight for them. in this kind of world where principles almost mean nothing yet having none equals self-destruction, we can never be too careful.
  • Know how to work your charm - in a lady-like and respectful manner, of course! shempre, i want Mia to be a lady always, and not just be a toughie :)

it’s so funny that while i was growing up as a teenager, i had so much angst that i hated that my parents were so strict with me, not knowing that when i become a mom myself i wouldn’t want it any other way for my own kid. but of course, there are things that i want to change too. but that’ll come. God will help me out.

so now i’m tagging mommy meeya, mommy lizzz, mommy kelly, mommy jayme, and daddy kiko!

Horaayy..there are 10 comment(s) for me so far ;)

Hey Irisss! Got your comment on my blog. Grrreat blog! I’m impressed! Puwede bang magtanong — how did you install shelfari on your blog? Wordpress din ang blog ko, pero for some reason, ayaw mag-install ng shelfari.

Can’t believe that you’re a mom! Didn’t even know. You got pretty meaty and interesting posts. Let’s meet up when I get to Manila ha? I’m arriving Feb 4. See ya soon!
