Come to think of it, all of this is useless
i’ve been reading up on the recent US recession fears that are hitting the stock markets and especially Southeast Asian economies. i have to be informed on this because i’m in the manufacturing business, and anything that goes wrong in the philippine economy will definitely impact our business. and my job eventually. i try not to be scared about the things that i’m reading, but i cannot help but go back to my Christian upbringing and recall the proverbial ’signs of the times’. many Bible scholars have been spreading the news about these days that are coming to be our last, although nobody will really know when the end will be.
“Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ, ‘ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. [Matthew 24:4-14]
i don’t know about you, but i’ve really been thinking how each of these things mentioned in the Bible have been coming true one by one and even more frequently these days. another thing that has caught my attention is how China is slowly becoming an economic world leader. and in these times in which our lives and futures are defined by currency, it’s not a far-fetched idea that the nation will evetnually play a great role in the unfolding of prophecies.
i am no expert on the subject but i’ve been educated enough to know that these things are not to be taken for granted anymore. yes, i do believe these will come true, and for that i feel like i have more to accomplish than ever before. maybe i’m lucky enough to know where i’m going after i die, but how about other people in my life who don’t?
come to think of it, my job, my material possessions, all my nonsensical activities are all useless. it all doesn’t matter anymore, because God will be coming to judge me soon. so what am i going to do in the meantime?

Wonderful article!!! I think more people need to be aware of the end days. I remember hearing it a lot as a kid that Jesus was coming any day now, but I agree with you. The greatest peace I have about all of it is that I know whether I die or whether Jesus comes back, I KNOW where I am going. And I want to take as many with me to Heaven as possible. May God continue to bless your works.

hi anna, thanks for dropping by. it’s really hard to convince people these days that our lives here on earth are numbered and there is such a thing as heaven and hell. the world has gone too hedonistic really. so God bless to all of us who realize our mandate to let as much people know about Him.
