I Am Legend (no spoilers, don’t worry)
i am scared
just watched I Am Legend starring Will Smith. i was really curious about the film since i’ve been hearing people raving about it since it showed in the cinemas. it was ok; your typical vampire-ridden horror movie and will-smith-will-save-the-world type of plot (Independence Day Will but a lot more mature). ok fine, it was actually nice in a weird, there’s-a-darkness-lurking-in-the-shadows-but-you-don’t-know-if-it’ll-pop-out-because-there’s-no-music-at-all kind of way.
i was trying to hide behind Mia (ok, hiding my face behind her so i couldn’t see while she squirms out of her wimp of a mom) while watching it and she wasn’t even flinching. that’s how much of a scaredy cat i am. anyway. so i looked up the movie on the internet and found some really interesting things:
- I Am Legend is actually the third adaptation of the classic science fiction novel written by Richard Matheson in 1954. the first was The Last Man on Earth (1964), then The Omega Man (1971).
- funny thing is, this is the movie that adapted the title but only bits and pieces of the novel. so yeah, even if you read the book it won’t spoil it for you.
- the Alpha Male zombie or Infected one is actually a person. hehe. i thought he was just CGI. the lucky guy who gets to terrorize Smith is Dash Mihok who has starred in hollywood films. remember the awkward dumdum in Connie and Carla?
- in the original storyline (the novel), dr. robert neville (smith) was only friends with the dog (a german shepherd in the movie) for a week because it died with a zombie bite
i won’t spoil it for you anymore, so just watch it and tell me what you think.
Mia the Destroyer
i know, i know it sounds pretty negative, but that’s what my brothers are calling my little girl Mia (affectionately, no worries) because she’s been crawling all around our house and grabbing everything in sight and throwing them around. it’s cute sometimes, but when you start to tell her to put things back (like she knows what you mean already), it gets well, pretty tiring cleaning up after her. so sometimes, i just let her mess things around and then when she goes to sleep i do the cleaning. there’s just the risk of hearing my mom badger me to keep Mia out of all the potentially messy shelves.
i can’t wait for her to learn how to walk; at least by then she’ll know which things to play with and which to keep off from, right? right? :)
updated links!
i’m on the lookout for great sites/blogs so i keep updating my links page. call me a link-junkie, i don’t care. hehe. after a while of lurking around the internet, you’ll really find that you’ve found so much stuff that it’s sooo difficult not to share them. here are my additional categories so far (aside from the usual):

really? that’s too bad, because it didn’t really suck big time for me. hehe. i think i know why they say it does. probably because there wasn’t much hype to the ending. oh well.

I Am Legend just totally ruined my excitement! Nothing special - I left the cinema as if screaming for a refund. I’d recommend you to watch 28 Weeks Later on DVD, much scarier.

k, that’s too bad. i’m not a big fan of scary movies kasi so anything with ghosts or zombies in it automatically rules out my judgment. so about the 28 weeks later, no thanks

i actually have the ebook (ehem) kasi i wanted to read it before watching the movie. til now, i haven’t done either, hehe.
ganyan din ako with ninna. i don’t sweat it anymore, basta i just let her mess everything up hangga’t kaya ng powers niya, tapos i just pick-up na lang everything sa gabi. pero now, she’s helping me clean up na rin a little bit. better than nothing di ba? hehe.

at first, i thought the movie is something like a hero in the making. much to my surprise it’s a horror movie! as a horror movie fan, it didn’t scare me at all. sorry, it’s more of a sci-fi rather than a horror movie.

alamo ambo, now that you’ve mentioned it, parang it didn’t really live up to its title nga. the book would’ve explained it well, but the movie didn’t do much justice to it. naunahan ako ng kaduwagan bago ko siya ianalyze. hehe.
