Polu Kai and The Alley

Another Polu Kai encounter

When i wrote about my Polu Kai Grill experience at Serendra, i was pretty sure it will go down quietly into history without anyone noticing. I even wrote a sort-of review of the place at munchpunch.com.

And then yesterday afternoon I was surprised to recieve an email from the Polu Kai management. More »

Eyeglass in style

My eyes have been adjusting pretty well to my hazardous eye-straining lifestyle. I stare at the PC monitor for about 6 hours a day, maybe even more because i also do this at home. More »

January 29th, 2008 | 10 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Family Matters, Tag you're it!

vannie tagged me to write down top 5 things I want my child to know before he grows up. Or more specifically, top 5 values I should impart to my child to make him be a better person. and these are:

  • Faith in God – i appreciate how my own parents brought me and my brothers up, and that is with fear in God. i wouldn’t want it any other way with Mia More »

i’m not over you…

January 29th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Movies & TV Series, What's it like to be me

…Adam. my day is not complete without playing “won’t go home without you” on my stereo. hindi nga, wala ba talagang magbibigay sakin ng tickets?

:)

i indulged myself yesterday in a very, very guilty pleasure. dvds. i had lunch at yohoo bbq at metrowalk with a HS friend and i just had to brag to him that this is where i score most of my movie dvds. i never get to go out to watch at a movie house, so this is all i have. sorry talaga! i am so excited for the weekend so i can watch mr. magorium’s wonder emporium, bee movie, and beowulf. there’s another one i forgot the title of.

January 28th, 2008 | 13 Comments | Posted in What's it like to be me

i got a (really) flat tire this morning right when i was supposed to leave for work. it’s the 2nd time it happened to me in less than a year, so i’m wondering, do tires really hate me? anyway it’s a good thing it happened at home and not anywhere else because i do not know how to change a flat tire. tsk tsk. The Alley Bar and Resto

January 24th, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in What's it like to be me

how come my bloglog widget is not updating when i try to refresh my page? is there something wrong with bloglog today? actually since yesterday pa to. hmp.

im working on the 169th page of my Clive Cussler book, Inca Gold. it’s taking me soooo long to finish the damn book. somehow my work is getting in the way. hmp.

i’m also on number 79 on my Pinoy Entrecard users list. been bloghopping like crazy and discovering a lot of good blogs lately.

i removed my shoutbox on my sidebar, have you noticed? somehow that’s to encourage readers to read my posts and comment instead of just being touch and go. the downsides of entrecard. oh well.

my friend has just reopened a bar at the Ortigas Home Depot, The Alley Bar and Resto. for you ortigas people out there, it’s located in the big compund at Julia Vargas, Pasig city, beside V58 Bar. it’s very near jay-jay’s lang. they got good food, booze, and videoke (at the 2nd floor so no worries to others dining)  so come on down! and the prices are pretty competitive so no worries about eating (or maybe drinking) your heart out.

i promised i’ll go tonight, so see you there :)

i’m so in love

Somebody pleeeeease buy me tickets to Maroon Five’s concert on March 5!

Mo Twister had Adam Levine call the show this morning and I just couldn’t get over myself. I was drooling just hearing his voice over the radio. Adam is probably one of the sexiest musicians in the world that I’m so in love with.

Of course there’s Brandon Boyd and J.R. Richards too. *starry eyes*. And then Heath Ledger… why Heath, why did you have to die??

current song playing in my head: won’t go home without you (maroon five, whoelse?) :)

Come to think of it, all of this is useless

i’ve been reading up on the recent US recession fears that are hitting the stock markets and especially Southeast Asian economies. i have to be informed on this because i’m in the manufacturing business, and anything that goes wrong in the philippine economy will definitely impact our business. and my job eventually. i try not to be scared about the things that i’m reading, but i cannot help but go back to my Christian upbringing and recall the proverbial ’signs of the times’. many Bible scholars have been spreading the news about these days that are coming to be our last, although nobody will really know when the end will be. The next world power isn’t so great

January 21st, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Apathy kills

Well, if you look at it at a feminist angle.

It has come as a surprise when China rose from its Communist ashes and is now seriously contemplating world domination — in economic terms at least. I was impressed by the Chinese way of doing business since they seem to have conquered every corner of the world with their infamous “Made in China” tag. You see it on National Geographic Channel (which has a featured show on China with the same title), on world news, in the world stock exchange market. More »

Mia Teething and interesting TVCs

Here are some of my long overdue posts. i finally get a free hour (at least!) before the princess wakes up and i am fully at her service again. (pictures are links to my multiply albums, so if you happen to pass by there, add me up!).

New Year at the beach

This is the first time that we spent new year’s eve away from home. and this was mia’s first new year outing too! mia was scared of the water at first, but after cajoling her to dip her feet in the water like after 15 minutes, she finally gave in to my kulit and she finally let me put her in her float (which tita mytee gave her for her birthday). it was really cold by then because the sun hasn’t completely come out and it was 2.30pm already. we only stayed in the water for 20 minutes because mia was freezing already.

and of course the best part of it was spending new year’s with my entire family. we shot music videos (but this one i linked to was shot at home just the other night; my cousin is still editing the others and i’ll post them on youtube as soon as they’re ok), took night time pictures, and ate lots of junk food. :)

and see that new section on my sidebar, What’s on my tube? that’s mia right there, playing with me when we were at the beach.

Mia’s 2 front teeth

my little girl is growing up. she’s got 4 front teeth growing! the only downside to it is that she got me panicking for the last 2 weeks. she’s had fevers on and of, which weirdly didn’t last more than a day; and a really bad case of diarrhea for 5 days. she really lost some weight too. i thought it was just because of all the holiday eating (because she also wanted to eat whatever we were eating, and she loved the chocolate especially). but when it just wouldn’t go away, and she was really getting picky with what she was eating, i knew it had to be something else. my cousin told me to get her a fecalysis but on the day i was supposed to bring her to the hospital, it turned out she was ok. hay.

Mia at Fully Booked

this is another reason why i love Fully Booked at Gateway Mall. the children’s section is carpeted, and although it’s not exactly spic and span, it’s still room for mia to explore.

the young bookworm

it was fun watching her among all the books, but not really when she was throwing them around :) i have yet to teach her how to put things back in their proper places.

that was today, when my mom and i got mia’s ears pierced. she finally looks like a real girl now! hehehe.

The Wedding

nope, not mine :) i just attended the wedding of my good friends onee and rommel at the Madre de Dios Chapel at the Midlands, Tagaytay Highlands. the place was really beautiful and serene. forgive me for not sharing the details of the wedding because the only thing that stuck to my mind were the wedding singers. they were reeeally good. the guy and the girl (i think they’re part of the band Sound Salad) sang The Prayer which was originally done by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church. it couldn’t have been more perfect. i’m still trying to look for the band’s profile somewhere on the web, but i couldn’t find any. sayang.

i’m still asking for my friend’s permission if i can post their Love Story AVP on YouTube, which i made for them as a gift. labor of love yun!
Cadbury®, choose happiness

has anyone seen the Cadbury® Choose Happiness tv ad campaign? it’s a claymation (clay animation) tvc of a family that finds themselves in happy Cadbury® land and everything is made of chocolate. yum, right? so they all drive around in a chocolate car, over chocolate hills and past chocolate trees, and all that stuff. the dad who was driving even tried on one of the car parts that came off! it’s cute, but you get this ominous feeling that they will turn to each other and just eat one another’s arms. haha.

seriously. watch it. if i find a clip on YouTube, i’ll show you :)

anyway since we’re on the topic, there’s this really funny Thai TVC series of a beauty product, Smooth-e Babyface facial scrub. there’s no subtitle but you can almost get what they’re saying with the facial expressions and body language. and it’s really funny.

Smooth-E Babyface part 1

Smooth-E Babyface part 2

Smooth-E Babyface part 3

Smooth-E Babyface part 4

i hope i linked to the right videos.

Avoiding waste

January 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Techie Stuff

One of the major key performance indices of any company, especially manufacturing (like where i work), is maximizing profits. And profits are made when, among others, wastage of raw materials are minimized. I, for one, have to be always conscious of stock levels and production efficiencies of my brands. It’s a good thing that my company has evolved so much in terms of processes and business systems that our support groups are very independently conscious of their jobs. I really don’t have to worry much about spillages or wastages in the plants where my products are made. For companies where these things are taken very seriously, there are certain business solutions that must be applied to keep things in efficient running order. I’m no expert in industrial engineering, but consulting companies such as Six Sigma Consulting can work around a lot of industrial issues. It’s better really to leave that kind of work to professionals, so people like you and me can be confident that things are just as they should be.

a curious and friendly ape species

January 16th, 2008 | 10 Comments | Posted in News & Novelties on the Web

if you haven’t heard/read about it yet, then you’re late for the news. i read in lester’s blog about this website that attempts to imitate wikipedia fame by dishing out some really racist and trashy information about everything, the philippines included. tsk tsk. what idle minds can do.

Encyclopedia Dramatica. in the website, our ancestors were described as “a curious and friendly ape species” when Magellan first discovered one of our islands. and our language, “Tagalog” (that’s not even correct) “is a blend of the ancestral ape noises, Spanish and English. ” what’s more, an average filipina would either be an ape, a prostitute, or both.

if i’m really really pikon, i would definitely be hauling these white trash boys’ asses to court. but i know better, was raised better, and am too proud to even take them seriously. they could’ve been just funny, but since some young people nowadays resort to undignified ways of making other people look like crap just so they can be “cool”, well you get the picture.

tsk tsk.

mind you, the philippines isn’t the only one that these guys trashed.
