around europe someday

November 17th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Ready jetset go!

Go to fullsize imagei’d like to fly around the world someday, but my first stop would definitely be europe. i’ve come to love the romanticized idea of cobble stone roads, houses with light-colored shutter windows, and lovers’ lanes. the weather would always be perfectly cool and sunny and birds would be chirping happily while you walk down historic lanes. i might be watching too much tv, but hey, if there are cheap holidays to spend, i would be the first person to board the plane.

florence city view

florence is also one of the cities i’d like to see. italy is just full of picturesque landmarks and maybe when i get there and inhale italy i would suddenly remember my italian language nouns and conjugations (that i took up in college with the purpose of using it someday in an italian cafe maybe). i hear the food is also superb, as well fashion tastes :)

someday, i’ll get to see europe and see everything that it’s famous for. for now, i’ll practice my rusty spanish and italian. :)

Master of Papers: essay editing service

November 15th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Family Matters, Techie Stuff

between my brothers and i, i was the one who took the love of literature. when i was a kid, i would pretend to be a newspaper editor and make newspaper editions out of ruled grade 2 pad papers, complete with pictures :) i guess that’s what being the first born does to you; my mother wouldn’t quit until i learned how to read and write even before i went to school.

Birthday Panic

November 15th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in All about Mia

barely 3 days to go before mia’s first birthday party and i still don’t have paper bags to pack the goodies with. i haven’t found any, which is mostly because i haven’t really looked hard; i’ve no time to go to the mall save for lunch break, but that’s not enough if i go to megamall or robinsons galleria. instead, i tried looking in tiendesitas, but to no avail. (i ended up buying stuff for me and my mom tuloy).

anyway, if you have ideas about where and how i can get nice (and cheap) goodie bags, i would really really appreciate it.

tapos the food pa! my mom and i have planned what to serve on mia’s birthday, but of course we still have to buy the ingredients since we weren’t able to get the cook sana.  i really have to go on leave tomorrow.

panic, panic! hehe

PPP: not the internet jargon

PPP. Pay Per Post by Izea

yey! PayPerPost finally approved my blog. if you haven’t jumped into the bandwagon yet, then let me just tell you that you’re missing half of your blogging life. hehe. i actually got persuaded into checking out blog monetizing programs after seeing that it actually works for people i know. i was kind of skeptical at first after seeing several splogs creeping around the internet and not really making any sense. thanks to ate pao, i’ve changed my views on online advertising.

i actually just blog for the sake of blogging and because i like to write, but i realized it isn’t so bad to do what you like doing and actually get rewarded for it. im actually really happy i got into this because now, i can write all i want and actually get paid doing it. :)

so what do i do with my hard work’s earnings? *kaching* treat Mia and my family of course! it’s nearly Christmas and i haven’t finished my shopping yet. have you?

Tell the truth and face the jury

POLITICS. pol·i·tics. (pl-tks) is the struggle for power.

that’s a definition i learned and took to heart since i was exposed to the idea of democracy, of freedom, and of the government. actually, it’s one that a college professor conveniently provided and which i willingly believed. that’s why i’ve always hated the thought. i’ve developed an aversion to anything with politics that’s why i choose not to participate in issues concerning the country and its government. yes, that’s coming from me, a graduate of one of the most vocal universities when it comes to politics.

but now that i’m actually concerned not just for myself but for mia, i’m worried that i’m not taking part enough in what’s to become of the philippines. i’ll have to do time for that, but for now, all I can do is write about it, and hopefully join the others whose causes have made it online.

Bribery whistle-blowers charged – INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

anyway. that’s one of the headline news in my news feed reader that got my attention. i read the first few sentences and i was immediately appalled. this is why it’s always wise to click on the link and read the entire thing first before reacting. my blood pressure was already shooting up. kidding. i almost fell for that one – NUskin

November 10th, 2007 | 31 Comments | Posted in Apathy kills

one fine afternoon i was minding my own business, my cellphone rang and an unfamiliar sun number was flashing on my screen. thinking that it was either good business (as in raket nanaman!) or a headhunter (yey), i answered. the guy who called me was straight to the point, very professional, and just very vague about what he was talking about.at first i got curious when he said he was from a multinational company and that he got my number from an officemate (i did verify with the officemate and it was true). he flattered me and all by saying that from what was referred to him, i was professional and that i might qualify for their project (which he said was temporary lang), blah blah.

YOU PARTIAL SCUMS

November 10th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Apathy kills

i’m supposed to publish my entry about this annoying little group of people, but that’ll wait. for now, i am seething over the fact that some big media corporation has deliberately forgotten about media ethics.

do you really know everything about media broadcasting? i’m afraid that my roots in the media business is terribly in danger of being typecasted entirely as negative. i am very afraid the time will come that nobody will believe in it anymore. all because of complaints like this. i know that you have a business to run, but hell, we do too! Go Pinoy – GSC plans to go global

November 6th, 2007 | 7 Comments | Posted in Go Pinoys!

“Being global means you are not hostage to the economic conditions of a particular market”-Joey Gurango, GSC founder

this is why i would rather click on good news fed by my news reader than the bad ones. it makes you feel proud to know that some of us have found the courage to dare foreign challenges (such as my fellow bloggers making their mark abroad). this local software company, Gurango Software, has declared its plans to conquer the global market of information technology.

Its founder, Joey Gurango, indeed inspires me. In my opinion, he should be one of those enterprising Filipinos ought to be given more attention than those squabbling little politicians who do nothing with my tax money but buy more rest houses and luxury cars.

:)

anyway back to mr. gurango’s quotable quote. it is admirable for any person to take up such a wide perspective of his business. these people who surround themselves with opportunities are only meant for success. never mind that it takes so much time, effort, and resources to get there. heck, we all know what happened to the light bulb man.

someday, mr. gurango, i wish to say that to myself also. i might finally have the courage to pursue my ideas and forget about having to conform to expectations. someday. *sigh*

i have a question for you

November 5th, 2007 | 12 Comments | Posted in Tag you're it!

got a tag from ate pao.

question: what makes another person attractive to you?

my answer: superficially, it’s the hair (if it’s the right cut for the person), the shoes (if it’s also the right one for the attire), and the eyes. but then again, we women are persons of substance (naks!) so i always find it attractive in a guy if he’s a good conversationalist (as in not the usual male ego-driven attitude), funny and smart, and if he’s really really genuinely nice (which you can tell with how he relates to people other than you).

so my next question is: how can you tell if a guy (who’s really hot) is gay?

khay, mariel, k, ambo, yang, jayme, ate kengkay, kiko, joy, and chuck, can you please answer my question? :)

2 lawyers drown at Pagudpud beach

2 lawyers drown at Pagudpud beach – INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

unknown to some, the waves up north are really pretty lethal. i had just blogged about last year’s trip to pagudpud and i’d mentioned that didn’t get to visit the blue lagoon (mairaira beach) because of laziness. did i mention we got wiped out one time we were swimming in front of our resort?

it’s sad really, finding out about accidents like these. and it kind of makes you thankful, when at some point or another you’ve been there or done that, that wasn’t you on the news.

to the 2 lawyers’ families, i hope you find your peace.

family coffee

November 4th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Family Matters, Photoblogging

during those rare times that my family go out for coffee (since we usually don’t because my mom is one big fan of “cost efficiency” and besides, it’s not like you can’t brew coffee at home yourself that tastes as good as the commercialized ones), it usually ends up as a photo-whoring session with my 2 brothers as the stars.

you just gotta love these moments. and now that we have another star in the making, the results are more than the usual kulitan.

my family and i don’t always get along. what with having someone like me in the brood is enough to make any mother wish for a barbie doll for a daughter instead. just kidding. i’ve been a fairly bad little girl but i do try to make amends every now and then; like coffee times like these, when i put on my best behavior and enjoy the company of those who accept my quirks unconditionally. you don’t get those quite often.

in times like these, i just say a thankful prayer to God that He gave me these people to spend life with, however flawed we all are and however hard it is for us to accept each others’ differences. it had been hard, and i figure it will never be easy, but it’s a challenge i’d be willing to take on anytime knowing that time on earth will always be short.

this is a self-check. next time we go out for dinner, ask them out to coffee.

the number 7

November 4th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Tag you're it!

7

got a tag from chuckie and from bloghopping alone, seems like this is one challenging tag.

the mechanics: name 7 things about me that has something to do with the number “7″

my lucky number sevens are:

  1. the letters of my last name number up to 7
  2. my birth month falls on the seventh month of the year
  3. i have 7 social network memberships (flickr, youtube, multiply, friendster, del.iciou.us, facebook, and imagini). i hope that counts

much as i try to think of all things seven in my life, it’s just really hard to. this blog post has been saved as a draft for 3 days now and i do not mean to keep it any longer lest it gets forgotten. sorry chuck! my mental capabilities are just not cooperating. and honestly, this is hard!

my name tag

got tagged also by ate pao to come up with the craziest names:

YOUR GANGSTA NAME: (fave ice cream flavor, favorite cookie)
Cookies ‘n Cream Oatmeal (doesn’t sound gangsta at all, more like my name if i was part of the mickey mouse club)

YOUR “FLY Guy/Girl” NAME: (first initial of first name, first three letters of your last name)
Icam

YOUR DETECTIVE NAME: (favorite color, favorite animal)
Orange Dog

YOUR SOAP OPERA NAME: (middle name, city where you were born)
Del Rosario Quezon City (is it just me or is this tag really just for those born other than the Philippines?)

YOUR STAR WARS NAME: (the first 3 letters of your last name, first 2 letters of your first)
Camir (now that’s a more acceptable)

SUPERHERO NAME (”The” + 2nd favorite color, favorite drink)
The Green Mango Juice

NASCAR NAME: (the first names of your grandfathers)
Cenon Alberto

STRIPPER NAME: (the name of your favorite perfume/cologne/scent, favorite candy)
Armani White Cadbury

WITNESS PROTECTION NAME: (mother’s & father’s middle names)
Marcelo Templonuevo (hahaha!)

HIPPY NAME: (What you ate for breakfast, your favorite tree)
Pan de Sal Acacia (my tree vocabulary is quite limited at this point)

YOUR PORN NAME: (First Pet + Name of street you grew up on)
Tetchie Bignay (hahaha ang panget)

let’s see your names then: patty (sorry for lots of tags, hehe), ate jen and kuya tops
