post Category: Music post postNovember 22, 2007

before dishwalla and snow patrol hit the mainstream, i was already a fan. i used to scour the internet for good alternative music to listen to and anything the suited my taste was immediately added to my playlist (and list of songs to download) and i was sure to become a fan. i’m not a real muic critique, but when it comes to good alternative music i know my stuff. i’ve also noticed that a lot of independent artists are getting their fair share of the industry limelight what with the growing attention to and support for indie music, indie films, and the like. people really are shifting tastes and not just big label artists can enjoy the exposure now. it’s easy for what used to be indie music change to mainstream.

well of course there’s the internet. the medium alone must be given credit for a lot of unsigned artists who got their much deserved exposure. i remember stumbling upon one local band in UP which aired their single online about 4 years ago. it was really good; it’s still in my playlist until now. it’s called kahit na by bridge.

really, you never know just what good music that’s waiting to be discovered on the web. did you know that ani difranco and madonna started out as independent labels? of course they didn’t have the luxury of the web to get promoted but, you get the picture. you can start by browsing through this site of independent artists. you can find all sorts of genres that suits your taste. i’m a rock/alternative person, so if you find discover something, let me know. :)
