POLITICS. pol·i·tics. (p

ks) is the struggle for power.
that’s a definition i learned and took to heart since i was exposed to the idea of democracy, of freedom, and of the government. actually, it’s one that a college professor conveniently provided and which i willingly believed. that’s why i’ve always hated the thought. i’ve developed an aversion to anything with politics that’s why i choose not to participate in issues concerning the country and its government. yes, that’s coming from me, a graduate of one of the most vocal universities when it comes to politics.
but now that i’m actually concerned not just for myself but for mia, i’m worried that i’m not taking part enough in what’s to become of the philippines. i’ll have to do time for that, but for now, all I can do is write about it, and hopefully join the others whose causes have made it online.
Bribery whistle-blowers charged - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos
anyway. that’s one of the headline news in my news feed reader that got my attention. i read the first few sentences and i was immediately appalled. this is why it’s always wise to click on the link and read the entire thing first before reacting. my blood pressure was already shooting up. kidding.
i would have definitely raised hell had that lawyer said that they’re including Gov. Panlilio and company in the bribery charges because of the mere fact that they received dirty money. he says they’re named in the filed complaint “so that they will be forced to make statements under oath”.
“There would have been no need for the investigation by the legislative branch of the government if only the Ombudsman and the Commission on Audit were doing their jobs,” Marshall Atty. Marcial Magsino, PTLA
seriously, what has our government come to? these issues and charges are simply symptoms of power tripping and greed all gone very, very wrong. not that they aren’t in the first place. but what has the people’s elected done with it? have those with good and pure intentions drowned in the suffocating mindset that one must do as traditional politicians do? shame.
i pray and hope that somewhere in that corrupt-driven, very political, and bureaucratic system of ours there are those who are still willing to stand up for what this country was freed for. those like gov. panlilio and company. those who don’t buckle when they tell the truth and face a ruthless jury who will eat them alive.
they may be far from being saviors, but heck i’ll take what i can if it means a better and safer future for Mia.
