7 random things

November 30th, 2007 | 9 Comments | Posted in Tag you're it!

about me. i was tagged by philosopher addict eds. ito muna before i post about my pampanga adventures.

tag rules: write about 7 random facts about yourself then tag another 7 people! be sure to include the previous ones in your post.

random iris:

  1. i am afraid of live chickens and absolutely despise goldfishes. especially the bubble-eyed one. they’re gross.
  2. i am slightly hydrophobic, especially around large bodies of water. this is why it gives me the heebie-jeebies when i enter pet stores that have fish tanks around it.
  3. i rarely eat spaghetti that’s not home-cooked. i especially don’t like pasta with ketchup mixed in the sauce.
  4. i could cook the meanest fetuccine carbonara but i don’t have the time anymore, so i’ve already forgotten how. hehehe
  5. i will prefer to eat ampalaya over pechay at any given time.
  6. i’ve been blogging for 4 3 years now and i just took it seriously a few months ago.
  7. i don’t eat chocolate ice cream, or any flavor that has mostly chocolate and nuts in it. i prefer plain vanilla ice cream or sundae and cookies ‘n cream.

now i’m tagging kiko, youareyou, misyel, kneeko, dr. det, atty. khay, and dru :)

mia on all fours

November 24th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in All about Mia

mia decides to show mommy her skills at 5 in the morning. for the longest time since mia learned to crawl she has been doing it on her tummy. as in she pulls herself around with her arms and a little push from her legs. i don’t know if it’s just a preemie thing to do though. but this morning, after waking up twice in the middle of the night for milk, she explored the room on all fours.

imagine how happy (and groggy) i was to see her crawling around. i’ve been teaching her how to do that but she won’t; i guess she’ll just put them to use when she wants to. and now she sits up on her own too. yey! mia scores again.

so now she’s found herself more mobile, she just grabs anything she can to stand herself up. we wrestle most of the time before going to bed because she just won’t quit. but of course i’m not complaining even if it’s at 5 a.m.

my first laptop

that’s her first baby laptop that her ninong joel and tita sadel gave her for her 1st birthday. i told myself not to buy mia anything electronic while growing up (or maybe until 12) because i wanted her to play with clay, Lego, and even sticks and stones to develop her creativity and imagination more. you can guess that’s how i grew up :) but then again, toys are gifts and who knows, mia might grow up to be a techie person more than her mom is. you just don’t know how much intelligence and behavior is evolving these days with the proliferation of media and technology into our daily lives. and being a mom, of course you only want the best for your kid.

maybe the one thing that i really won’t let her play with are video games. not until she’s twelve maybe. i wouldn’t say she’ll be deprived because my brothers and i didn’t grow up in front of the tv and look how we turned out. real bad. hehe kidding. but really, i don’t regret our parents bringing us up the way they did. and i think i’m finding myself adopting their discipline with mia. but maybe with a little difference when she reaches her teens. i think all parents naman have their ideals when it comes to raising their kids, and it’s usually because of how they were raised. as for me, i just pray i do a good job. :)

for the interior designer in you

have you ever played The Sims? it’s a PC/game console (available in PS2) simulated game of “playing god” over a neighborhood of people you can create and control. one of the games’ features that i really love is the house building. you get to customize your own house and lot, from wallpaper and flooring, to the furnitures and bathroom fittings. what makes it so interesting is that you have thousands of models and sets to choose from to decorate your house. reposting “death”

November 23rd, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Short Stories & Mood Swings

in memory of a HS and college schoolmate, JR. a new father, a good friend to many, and an athlete. i am just re-posting a short i wrote a few years back, which may not entirely do justice to his life (because it’s not about him), but nevertheless this is for you as it was for those i remembered when i wrote this.

——

“swish, swish” said the tree branches.
“dub-dub” said the little heart.
“good bye” said I.
“tomorrow i will see you again.”

2 deaths in one week.

“kinda makes me think, you know,” she said to no one in particular. the night was young and the breeze was cold. nobody was waiting for her at home, so she continued to tread the grassy ground. More »

business loans for sbe

November 23rd, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in News & Novelties on the Web

i’ve read several franchising posts around the blog world and it seems to me how easy it is nowadays to get started on your business and be the master of your time. that really appeals to me since i’ve always wanted to have my own so i can eventually quit my corporate slave job (hehe) and earn on my own.

what is it with men!?

November 22nd, 2007 | 5 Comments | Posted in Drama Queen moments

i wish the guys that sang the true love songs of our time would all be real and that they would all mean what they sing about. (im listening to stonefree’s LSS right now, and for some who might know the band, you’d know my sentiments. it’s just so easy to have so much sympathy for miro the vocalist, because of the kind of rock ballad music they make. and it kinda makes you wish that all men were as sensitive as the guy/s in the song/s).

guys drive me nuts, and i do not, i repeat i do not mean that in any other way but negatively. what is it with boys that don’t seem to be contented with their commitments? with boys who seem to make a game out of women’s emotions? is it so damn entertaining that they would rather be called jerks and insensitive asses just to fulfill their universal mission of making us miserable?

what is it with taking risks with relationships when neither of you benefit from it anyway? is it the thrill? what is it with teasing, flirting, toying with another’s emotions when clearly the other one is the underdog? is it the feeling of power and fulfillment?

no i’m not being self-righteous nor am i going to say that women are not capable of these things too. i don’t want to argue, really. i just want to rant. i just hate finding out that some of life’s small hopes are simply not meant to be. well maybe not now, maybe in the future.

but that’s just so damn far away.

indie music

November 22nd, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Music

before dishwalla and snow patrol hit the mainstream, i was already a fan. i used to scour the internet for good alternative music to listen to and anything the suited my taste was immediately added to my playlist (and list of songs to download) and i was sure to become a fan. i’m not a real muic critique, but when it comes to good alternative music i know my stuff. i’ve also noticed that a lot of independent artists are getting their fair share More »

The Princess’ Birthday

November 21st, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in All about Mia, Photoblogging

Once upon a time, in a far away land, there was a beautiful little princess whose name is Mia. She was a joy to everyone who saw her, a jem in her mommy’s eyes, and the delight of her grandparents.

Hehe. The birthday party was a success. We did go to far far away land, but more like we drove there. More »

target retired

November 21st, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Movies & TV Series

i’ve always wanted to be a sniper assassin. or maybe just a sniper in combat, never the one to rush into bloodbath. i like to take my prey one by one, unaware, in one clean sweep of a bullet. i like to feel the rush of blood pounding in my heart as i trail the crosshairs of my rifle on your head, your heart, or wherever i want it to hit you.

when i pull the trigger,

pahabol, before i  log off for a while until next week. it’s mia’s bday celebration tomorrow (her real bday’s on the 20th)  and we’re flying off to Far Far Away Land for her party :)
she’s starting to learn standing up on her own (finally!) with anything she can reach and hold on to. it’s quite a bit hard to take her down every time when i’m putting her to bed, though. still, i’m proud of  mia.

Beowulf the Movie

November 17th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Movies & TV Series

It’s so easy take english literature for granted back in high school, when it was required in the  third year curriculum and the teacher wasn’t as well versed with european geniuses. Beowulf was one of those we were required to read and analyze in class. More »
