New Species Found
there’s a weird little creature staring up an (equally strange) underwater camera lens and it’s not a bit shy. the surprise at finding each other was probably mutual as scientists plunged into the deepest parts of Celebes Sea.
A team of filipino-american scientists has discovered several unknown species in that remote sea south of sulu, and this square jawed semi-transparent fish is one of them.
“The animal’s deep red hue is actually common among these jellyfish, according to the Woods Hole team. Although it is not visible in the ocean’s dark depths, the color masks any bioluminescence given off by prey trapped inside the jellies’ guts.” -NGC
sinister. and that, my friend, puts the philippines on the map once again.
