thong reviews

September 2nd, 2007 Posted in Clothes & Stuff

I’m a thong person.

A thong sandal person, that is. (Silly, what were you thinking?) I just bought my first pair of Havaianas Flash Urban, in white. And yes, it really is my first. I’m not much of a branded person when it comes to tsinelas (except if it’s Nike, in which case i’m a fan). If some people collect them (Havaianas) like some do rubber shoes because you just gotta have more than two (other than for running or the gym and for porma, in which case again, I don’t get it), well I don’t.

I usually settle for what’s comfortable at the moment I’m trying them on, which is usually when I’m tired of walking around in the mall. This time I had to buy something for our Bohol trip this end-month. And mind you, I’m a hard to please person when it comes to sandals/slippers/tsinelas. The only pair of flip-flops that has passed my standards for the infamous mall-walking activity is my trusted Nike slippers. Malling (for hours) has never been my favorite activity but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

So it happens also, that my family and I have been going around in the mall for an hour or so and there’s the recognizable aching feet again. Instead of putting off the buying 3 days before the trip, I decided to survey for candidates. Crocs had new styles out at Shoe Salon and at Rustan’s but are on the expensive side. If you don’t think so, be my guest and buy me one. Sure I’m a cheapskate, and I’m a size 6, by the way.

I really did like one of the new Crocs sandals. Maybe in December. Anyway, I also took a look at those from Reva but I didn’t think they’d look good on my feet because they were too bulky, as with the Crocs

Beach. Besides, Olympic Village didn’t have all of the styles and colors. There’s this other brand, Melissa by Grendene from

Brazil, which has been featured in a local tv show for being the perfect rainy day footwear because it’s so handy you can fold it, plus it’s actually comfortable “plastic”. Read Melissa’s review here. All of them are actually pretty cool.

So anyway, since I’m in a budget right now, I took my chances browsing through the Havaianas racks at Rustan’s. I figured this was my only shot at buying something actually nice-looking, comfortable, and versatile. I used to think Havaianas didn’t really make any difference from those you can buy in Greenhills. But man, when I tried out the Havainas Flash Urban, I immediately made up my mind. This is perfect for

Bohol and I’m not complaining about having to walk even more. For me to say that is like a rave review from a food critic. haha

So I guess I corrected my opinion about Havaianas to be just tsinelas. I’ll be reserving a rightful place on our shoe rack for this pair.
